Hey boss, competing naturally for the 2nd time. Won novice division first time and runner up in overall. Lost 48 lbs for show lost lots of strength and mass. Judges said need wider back and wider legs which I've been doing twice a week. They also said holding water, but is it water or not being lean enough. What is your take on carbing up and drying out to look full/ hard .
Good luck this year and keep tearin it up on flexonline

I wish I could tell you Lewis. I'm working with Chad Nichols this year and he is the mastermind behind some of the most ripped physiques ever to hit the stage. Its all in his hands but I can tell you with certainty that it will depend on how I look each day in the last few days before the show.

Thanks for the props look out for the next Chest vid coming soon!

First congratulations on your success and on losing 48lbs, thats awesome! I can't tell you for sure if you were holding water or fat without being there myself to see. I would trust the judges eye that you asked unless you had someone else you trust telling you it was fat.
Carbing up and filling out while maintaining a dry look shouldn't be too difficult and doesn't need to be as complex as some make it. If you are truly ripped than there should only be a small amount of water left over depending on the diet you're on.
I think bringing your fat levels down to the most extreme level and then carbing yourself up slowly with clean food from the Tues or Wed before is the best way to get it done. The water drop will depend on your sodium intake and how you have that set up for the show.

Good luck!

Hi Fouad
In a recent Vid you mention your taking around 100g of Carbs a day. What time of day and how much per meal are you taking them? Do you still have Hi-Glycemic carbs after your workouts. Thanks

It changes from week to week but its scattered throughout the day and sources are oatmeal, white rice and potato.

hi fouad, what does a typical off season day look for you? do you have a pre intra and post workout protocol you use in the off season?

If you go to my website under Nutrition you can see what I typically eat in the offseason (www.fouadabiad.com). If anything I will have two or three cheat meals a week to go on top of that usually consisting of a burger/fries, pasta or something else relatively beneficial to my program. Preworkout and post workout I use a lot of Glutamine and a lot of BCAA's. You'll have to find out what the best dose of both is for your size.

Heyy Fouad,
I'm 15, and I have a HUGE passion for Bodybuilding. I have been told often however that this lifestyle will surley stunt my growth, by many people. I am already on the shorter side, and have a bone age of about 14 years old. I dont want to screw up my body for a future of competition. any thoughts?

Bodybuilding will always be there but your height only has so much more to go. Be patient, you can hit some weights but I would do more bodyweight stuff like push ups, sit ups, chin ups for now. When you hit 17-18 you can start doing a program and ease your body into it.
Just for reference I didn't start till I was 20 years old and still managed to get pretty far. Take your time and don't sacrifice anything you can't get back that you might want later. Think long term, be a fan, support the sport and when you're ready, take your place at the table!

Hey Fouad, in the article "Training Day: Fouad Abiad" it talks about the structure of your leg workouts and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind posting the exercises so i could catch a glimpse and pick up my own leg development. Thanks!

Here is a standard leg workout for me:

Lying leg curls 5 X 8-10
Leg Press 6 X 20
Squats 4 X 12
Stiff Leg DB Deads 4 X 10
Hack Squat 4 X 8-10

Sacrifice!

Why do you use DB's for stiff deads as opposed to a barbell?
