I don't! To me there's a certain psychology that goes into training. Some people need to get mentally prepared to embark on a new fit lifestyle and...there's therapy for that! Seriously though...you have to figure out where to draw the line between a trainer and a therapist. People that complain usually have other things they need to work on in life.

Well when I am training someone I let them know from the get go that once the session starts its all business. I am a trainer first and a friend/therapist second. My job is to help that individual achieve a certai level of fitness or goal and that's what I make sure they know. So for that hour or so you need to tell them any issue or problem they may have at hand they need to put it aside or use it for fuel. But if its personal problems aside from medical/health/fitness related I try to stay clear of that, sometimes people like to use you to vent and aren't necessarily looking to you for answers.

I strongly agree with the above post! When they are in the gym its time for business and they should know that. They should be focusing on the gym, the exercises, and the movement. Having a bad day is one thing but if it's consistent they might need to just be sat down and told its time for business, not talking or complaining.
